This is the band`s busiest touring year ever with nearly 150 live concerts. In February, the band embarks on their first tour to the south. Later in the spring, Phish tours Colorado and Utah. They returned to play the Strand Theatre in Boston at the end of April, stopping along the way to play for the first time in the midwest and continuing with three more weeks of shows in the northeast and another trip through the south before taking sometime off to practice and write songs. (Before the fall, soundboard audio-taping patches are discontinued due to essential equipment having been unplugged by tapers attempting to tape.) Lawn Boy is released in September, and the band tours some more through the Fall, including their third trip to the south that year. They headed from the southwest back to Colorado and the midwest before returning to cap the year with a New Year's celebration in Boston. Late in the year, the Phish.Net, an Internet-based alliance of Phish fans, begins to coalesce.
