Dear Mike:
You said "Washa Uffize and drive me to Firenze" implies beatpath. I'm curious as to what you meant by beatpath - an unpleasant ride maybe?

Dear Trey, Fish, Mike and Page::
I've noticed over the years that you guys have various nicknames for each other (Fish as "Henrietta," Page as "Chairman of the Board," etc.) Could you explain the origin of some of these nicknames?
Thanks, Frank Serpico, Reading, PA
Dear Snake::
Reading is a beautiful city; all four of us were born there. Page is nicknamed Chairman of the boards, becuase he averaged 14.6 rebounds per game at Goddard College. He is compared to Dennis Rodman to this day. - Fish
Dear Phish:
In reading the "Letters" section in the last few issues of the "Schvice," I've noticed a trend you've developed in giving supercilious, even mocking answers, to a lot of your mail. Are four nice guys like yourselves reallty trying to be rude, or am I mistaken?
P.S. I'm sure no one has ever asked you this before, but what are you guys saying at the end of "You Enjoy Myself?"
Signed, Asking for It.
Dear Asking for It::
We often mock; we mock ourselves while we're standing about. That we would mock in a letter is nigh but expected. I find myself appearing just this side of rude, and really I appreciate letters. So I'd like to be nyce. I am nyce. We're all nyce. Trey's nyce.- Mike P.S. What we say, in that song, is Cobo -

Dear Schvice:
I just received your Late Fall 1995 newsletter and while reading through the amusing articles, I was all of a sudden aghast at what I read. In the Phish Sports Minute article, the writer states that, "The great blues men of the 20's and 30's named their label Chess Records in honor of the legendary matches that took place in the blues halls and juke joints of the deep south." Well, the part about the musicians being great blues men is correct. But, the label was not given the name in honor of the legendary games held in the clubs. Rather, it was named after the two owners of the label; Leonard and Theo Chess. This kind of thing usually doesn't bother me, but this time it really struck a chord, maybe because Chess Records signed and promoted some of the musical greats and I feel that when it comes to giving credit where credit is due, you should really have your facts straight. I'm still a faithful reader and fan, but remember we are watching you.
Sincerely, Jennifer Leigh
