Phish: A Benefit For Vermont Flood Recovery, September 14th

Phish will play a special show at Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, VT next Wednesday, September 14th. The concert will benefit Vermont flood recovery efforts. In the wake of Hurricane Irene, Vermont experienced its worst flooding in a century, which devastated communities throughout the state.

"It's been heartbreaking to see all the loss and destruction that came from the storm," said Phish keyboardist Page McConnell. "Vermont is very much a part of who we are as a band. We're really looking forward to playing this show and we hope the money raised will make a difference in the recovery and rebuilding effort."

General admission tickets will be $75. In addition, a special "Friend of WaterWheel" package will be available for $250. It will include preferred parking, a reserved box seat, a limited edition poster and access to a Vermont craft beer tent. A very limited number of tickets are available directly through Phish Tickets' online ticketing system at http://phish.portals.musictoday.com. The ticket request period is currently underway and will end on Wednesday, September 7, at noon ET.

Tickets will go on sale to the public on Saturday, September 10, at 10:00 AM ET. In order to ensure that a large allotment of tickets is available to local residents, the public onsale will be in-person only and will be cash only. The box office location will be announced this Friday at http://phish.com, by email update and on local radio stations. There will be a limit of two tickets per person whether individuals are purchasing in person or during the online ticket request period.

Proceeds from the concert and merchandise sales will be directed to The WaterWheel Foundation and The Vermont Community Foundation to aid in the recovery of the Green Mountain State.

The WaterWheel Foundation was created by Phish in 1997 to oversee the band's various charitable activities. Fans can donate to The WaterWheel Foundation by clicking here. You should specify that you would like your contribution to go to Vermont flood recovery efforts.

The Vermont Community Foundation was founded in 1986 and is Vermont's largest homegrown philanthropic foundation, managing a collection of over 600 charitable funds that invest more than $18 million annually in Vermont through grants, loans and other investments. In the aftermath of Hurricane Irene, the Foundation worked with donors and other partners to facilitate donations for relief and recovery efforts, including the establishment of a fund to benefit Vermont farmers affected by the storm. Visit vermontcf.org or call 802-388-3355 for more information.

The show will be Phish's first in Vermont since 2004. Doors will open at 5:30 PM and the concert will begin at 7:00 PM.

Vermont Show Update

The doors are now opening at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday to help alleviate the traffic flow; only people with tickets will be allowed inside the Essex fairgrounds, so trying to get in without a ticket's a waste of time. Also, they will be clearing the parking lot by midnight after the show.

Ebay Profits

Seems to me the people selling GA tickets on ebay for 300+ should donate those funds to the vermont flood relief. I am appalled that there are those out there making a profit from our friends welcome contribution to help us here in Vermont. I dont have any money left to be able to see the show, as recovery from Irene has been way more than i can afford. Thank you Phish for this, and thanks to all the friends and fans of the band for your support. As muchas some of you who dont have tickets want to see the show, please dont support scalpers it detroys the whole purpose of the show.

Need to Know

Please post asap where tickets will be sold! Im so excited and cant wait!

Thank You

Thank you so much for recognizing the dire need that the state of Vermont is in. Being a longtime Vermonter and loyal Phish fan I appreciate your generosity, love and support. There is so much devastation all around the state.

The funds raised by this concert will be able to help so many Vermonter's in so many ways. I am so proud to be part of the Vermont community as well as the Phish community. And I am so excited to be part of this special event.

UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT

UNFORTUNATELY I DID NOT receive tickets and being a native Vermonter I was so looking
forward to helping my neighbors and seeing a GREAT band. My friend bought tickets at the same time and
GOT THEM!!!!!!!!

It is also VERY unfortuate to see these same tickets on EBAY for ridiculous $$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't people understand this is a BENEFIT NOT for profit!!

So wish I was around to stand in line for tix but that is not the case!

Just got my Tix!

Whhooooot!

Send Vermont Residents for FREE!!

If this is a BENEFIT for Vermont Residents, let us help by webcasting the show and our payment for the webcast pays the ticket price to send Vermont residents for free to the show... D0n't they have enough expenses to cover with the looming recovery they face!?

Set it up and I'll chip in as will millions of other Phans across the country...

And make the webcast viewable one time at any time for those of us that work during the hours the show actually happens...

Thanks Brothers and Sisters for all you do!

VERMONT ROAD CLOSURES - WEBSITE

Here is a website that will help you make your way to the fair. It gives all of the CLOSED ROADS and BRIDGES among other helpful info. Peace.

This show is monumental for

This show is monumental for me, it is going to be my first show since coventry. I haven't been around due to the federal BOP, and have dreamed getting back into the mix. so much for the
, and i will gladly give to the relief!

You can't get there from here!

Our small town of Wilmington suffered terribly this past week as Irene flooded our streets, and tested the strength of our town folk. Our community as well as many others could certainly use the help a benefit concert could bring. HOWEVER...

Many roads are still closed! and will remain as such for several months if not longer. You've heard the saying, 'You can't get there from here' well for some areas that's true.

I plead with my fellow PHISH fans...Please drive slow, give yourself extra travel time, pack water, nonperishable foods, extra clothing, a shovel, mud boots, a flashlight, a "good" spare tire, don't let your gas tank get below 1/2 full if you can help it and most of all, if you see a stranded vehicle.... roll your window down and see if they need your help. Brother to brother, sister to sister be safe, be happy, be kind.

In Addition to a Benefit for Vermont in Vermont

In addition to a benefit for Vermont in Vermont, how about a benefit for Vermont in NYC?

My parents' house is in Wilmington VT, and there and elsewhere they are encouraging people not to drive into the area, to give them time to rebuild the roads and to ease the pressure on the already damaged infrastructure.

Vermonters definitely deserve a show, and need the money that will be raised, but it would be great to give those of us who live elsewhere but have a special place in our hearts for Vermont (and for Phish) an opportunity to attend and support a benefit without pressuring the VT infrastructure before they are ready for it.

First, I don't live in an area of Vermont affected by the floods, but thank you to Phish for pitching and helping out and thank you to the previous posters for requests of Live CDs and Phish Casts of the show and whether or not these happen, anything extra you can donate to the links above for flood relief efforts are really going to help. Some folks here are really going to need IT.
