Exactly one year after launching LIVEPHISH.COM, Phish has announced that as of January 1, 2004, the band will donate their net proceeds from the service to The Mockingbird Foundation, a non-profit organization founded and run by Phish fans that supports music education for children.
Trey Anastasio said of the announcement: "Playing live music has always been a source of indescribable joy for me, and everyday I count my blessings that I'm able to make my living doing something that I so deeply love. It's exciting then to think that a person can come to a Phish concert, and know that all the profits from the subsequent downloads of our music will go directly into children's music programs. The fact that The Mockingbird Foundation was created by Phish fans makes it all the more inspirational to us."
Many of you are likely familiar with The Mockingbird Foundation. For those who aren't, the Foundation is run entirely by a volunteer staff and with almost no overhead, has made nearly $200,000 in grants since its inception in 1997. Grants to date have come from proceeds from various projects, including "The Phish Companion", a comprehensive and authoritative reference guide to the band and their music, and "Sharin' In The Groove," a two-disc album of Phish covers by notable artists such as Dave Matthews and Jimmy Buffett, among others. A second edition of the book will be released in the spring.
Recipients of these grants have included schools, community centers, workshops, camps, and scholarship programs from Maine to California, from Appalachia to the Southwest, and from Kentucky to Kosovo. Their funding guidelines define music education for children broadly and somewhat unconventionally, and have enabled the Foundation's efforts to go beyond schools to hospitals, shelters and foster homes. Proceeds from LivePhish.com's revenues are expected to dramatically increase the number of organizations that the Mockingbird Foundation is able to fund.
For information on The Mockingbird Foundation, including donation guidelines and lists of past grant recipients, please visit http://mbird.org

[NOTE: These pieces are SOLD OUT. We do not currently anticipate making any more available.]
Mike Gordon has teamed with his mother, artist Marjorie Minkin, to create 50 limited edition Inside In CDs. The CDs come inside plastic boxes that are wall-mountable, and are adorned with small one-of-a-kind paintings that have been signed and numbered by Marjorie Minkin. The CDs themselves are also signed by Mike. Essentially, these are fine-art pieces that also hold a copy of Inside In. Here to provide some more background, is Mike Gordon. Mike?
"Hello, Mike here...Some of you may know my Mother's work from the various backdrops she did for Phish, or from the song, "Minkin," on the band's early self-released album. She has always been a huge influence on me -- my biggest, in fact. She repeatedly demonstrates what it means to stretch artistic limits as far as possible. And for over a decade she and I have been talking about doing some sort of collaboration that mixes painting (her work is done with iridescent pigments on transparent plastic) and sound. Now "Inside In" is becoming the perfect opportunity for us to combine efforts. Our long term goal is to create a gallery installation, but we also wanted to create simpler pieces that people could handle and have for themselves."
The units sell for 101 dollars and 101 cents, for a total of $102.01 and will be shipped out directly from the Minkin studio. To learn more about the artist, please visit her web site at (http://www.marjorieminkin.com).
To purchase one of these pieces, please visit the Phish Dry Goods web site at : http://www.phish.com/drygoods/home/category.html?cid=70

A limited edition series of 2000 posters, signed and numbered by Jim Pollock, was created for the recent show in Boston. Since we launched the Live Phish Downloads service last December, many of the more Luddite Phish fans (and we mean that in a good way) have expressed to us their interest in seeing select shows from the download series released on CD.
We are pleased to announce the release of three concerts from 2003 on 3-CD sets exclusively available from Phish Dry Goods and select independent record stores nationwide.
The shows are:
* 2/28/03 Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, NY
* 7/15/03 USANA Amphitheatre, West Valley City, UT
* 7/29/03 Post-Gazette Pavilion at Star Lake, Burgettstown, PA
These shows (three of the most popular shows from the download series), have been remastered, and come in an innovative single-width jewel box with enhanced artwork based on the downloadable graphics on LivePhish.com.
Depending on the response to these CDs, we hope to create similar CD releases in the future. These releases are not part of the Live Phish series (volumes 1-20) released via Elektra Records, which has been discontinued for the time being.
The new Live Phish releases are $18 each, or $48 when purchased together. Everyone who buys all three new releases is automatically entered into our Live Phish preorder contest. The grand prize winner will receive two tickets to each of the four upcoming shows in Miami. Two runners up will each win two tickets to the New Year's Eve show in Miami. To preorder these shows, or for more information (including setlists) about these releases, go to http://www.phish.com/drygoods/home/category.html?cid=73. Tickets for "An Acoustic and Electric Evening with Dave Matthews and Friends" go on sale to the public beginning this Saturday, November 1. As announced here previously, Trey will be joining Dave Matthews for twelve dates in December and January. The band also includes Brady Blade, Tony Hall, Tim Reynolds, and Ray Paczkowski, who's played keyboards with Trey's solo band for the past couple of years. The shows will also feature special guest Emmylou Harris and Spyboy. For the dates and full onsale information, please visit the Dave Matthews website at http://dmband.com.
In related news, Trey will join Dave and his solo band as the musical guest of Saturday Night Live on November 8 (the host is US Open men's singles champion Andy Roddick) and on Late Night with David Letterman both December 18 and 19. -
Waterwheel's Touring Division will be back at it at the upcoming Phish shows. As always, the net proceeds raised at the WaterWheel tables will be donated to the nonprofit hosted at each show. So far over $423,000 has been given to more than 180 nonprofits, thanks to the outstanding support of the Phish community. The Register to Vote and Fishman 2004 campaigns will also be in full swing, now on their "election year" footing. If you're concerned about the leadership of this country or just want a decent band to play at the Inaugural Festivities, stop by the table and get registered.
WaterWheel is pleased to announce its 2003 grants for Lake Champlain. $289,000 has been given to 14 organizations working on environmental issues affecting Lake Champlain, bringing the total amount donated to Lake causes to $1,054,700. The largest grant is $105,000 to ECHO at the Leahy Center for Lake Champlain. ECHO opened its innovative lake aquarium and science center on the waterfront in Burlington, VT earlier this year.
WaterWheel continues its support of the Conservation Law Foundation's (CLF) clean water advocacy with a grant of $80,000. Its Vermont office has been a consistent advocate for actual enforcement of the Clean Water Act and other environmental protection laws. An additional $40,000 was donated to CLF's nascent Lake Champlain Lakekeeper, part of the Waterkeeper Alliance. The Lakekeeper's mission is to protect and restore Lake Champlain through advocacy and by enlisting public support for the cause. The Vermont Natural Resources Council (VNRC) received its fifth grant from WaterWheel for $30,000. In conjunction with CLF, VNRC won a major legal victory earlier this year when the Water Resources Board rejected the Agency of Natural Resources' "Watershed Improvement Permits", issued the previous year despite the water bodies in question not meeting Vermont's basic minimum standards for water quality.
Additional grants of $13,000 have been made as part of WaterWheel's small watershed association program. Recipients are volunteer-led and locally-based watershed groups who galvanize the community to help with such projects as water quality monitoring and stream bank restoration. These grants went to the Au Sable River Association, Missisquoi River Basin Association, Keeping Track, Voice for the Potash Brook Watershed, Lewis Creek Association, Middlebury River Watershed Partnership, and the Poultney-Mettowee Watershed Partnership.
WaterWheel provided additional support for the Nature Conservancy of Vermont's battle against non-native nuisance species in the Lake with a $10,000 grant. Volunteers and staff have pulled over 200 tons of the plants since 1998, in some areas completely eradicating them. $5,000 was given to the National Wildlife Federation's (NWF) northeast field office for its efforts to protect and restore fish-dependent birds on Lake Champlain. $6,000 will help fund a volunteer water quality monitoring program in the City of Burlington.
Funding for this program is made possible by the sale of Ben & Jerry's Phish Food ice cream. All royalties due to Phish from Phish Food will be donated by WaterWheel to organizations working to improve the environmental well-being of Lake Champlain and its watershed. For more information about these grants and all things WaterWheel, visit the website at http://www.phish.com/waterwheel/. -

Phish will play a four-show run beginning Thanksgiving weekend, culminating in a 20th Anniversary performance at Boston's FleetCenter on December 2.
The Boston show comes twenty years to the day of Phish's first performance, at an ROTC dance on the campus of the University of Vermont. While the exact date has been the subject of some dispute over the years, carbon dating, diligent research and a little common sense confirmed that December 2, 1983 was indeed the date of the band's first show.
At the end of December, Phish returns to Florida for a four-night run at American Airlines Arena in Miami, including a three-set New Year's Eve show. The shows are the band's first performances in Florida since their millennium festival at the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation in 1999.
The eight dates are as follows:
11/28 Nassau Coliseum Uniondale, NY
11/29 Wachovia Spectrum Philadelphia, PA
12/1 Pepsi Arena Albany, NY
12/2 FleetCenter Boston, MA
12/28 American Airlines Arena Miami, FL
12/29 American Airlines Arena Miami, FL
12/30 American Airlines Arena Miami, FL
12/31 American Airlines Arena Miami, FL
A limited number of tickets for all eight shows are available directly through PHISH TICKET's secure online ticketing system at http://www.phishtickets.rlc.net for a seven-day ordering period beginning Monday, September 22, at 12:01 PM EST and ending Monday, September 29, at 11:59 AM EST. Tickets go on sale to the public October 17 and 18. Full tour information can be found on the now nearly bulletproof Phish web site at http://phish.com/tourdates . -
Mike Gordon will play his first-ever solo tour, a 9-date run in support of Inside In, released last month on Ropeadope Records. Kicking off October 5 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, the tour will stop at 8 cities, playing theatres and clubs before concluding on October 16 at New York's Irving Plaza.
The tour will feature a seven piece all-star group handpicked by Gordon that is as eclectic in its instrumentation as it is in personnel. Comprised of longtime Phish collaborators James Harvey on keyboards and Gordon Stone on pedal steel and banjo, as well as trombonist Josh Roseman (Dave Holland, Charlie Hunter), guitarist Scott Murawski (Max Creek), tap dancer and vocalist Jeannie Hill, flutist and vocalist Julee Avallone (Dr. Juice) and drummer Doug Belote (Anders Osborne, Tony Furtado), the band will perform songs from Inside In as well as other material from within and without.
Released August 26, Inside In is the complement to Outside Out, his first full-length feature film. Recorded at his home studio, all songs on Inside In were written and performed by Gordon and feature a revered collective of guest musicians such as Jon Fishman, Béla Fleck, and Col. Bruce Hampton as well as many others.

Vida Blue, featuring Page McConnell, bassist Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band), and drummer Russell Batiste (funky Meters) will release "The Illustrated Band" on Sanctuary Records on October 14.
The band's second studio album, the release finds the trio backed by the Spam Allstars, a Latin Grammy-nominated Afro-Cuban sextet. The Illustrated Band represents a hybrid of sounds: a mix of Vida Blue's multi-textured grooves, infused with progressive Latin styles and rhythms, courtesy of the Allstars' eclectic instrumentation of turntables, sax, trombone, flute and percussion.
Page first hooked up with the Allstars while in Miami last March, sitting in with them during their weekly residency at a club in Little Havana. As some of you may recall, the Allstars' leader DJ Le Spam joined Vida Blue onstage for some shows in Philly and Providence in early April. Soon thereafter, Page invited the Allstars to record with Vida Blue in Miami's Middle Ear Studios, and the rest is history.
The album's four tracks clock in at over 60 minutes of music:

We're still recovering up here at Phish HQ from last weekend's festival up in Northern Maine. Many many thanks from all of us to those of you who made the unforgettable journey to Limestone.
We're in the process of gathering photos from our festival photographers and hope to launch some galleries within the next week or so on Phish.com. Also, our friends at Phisharchive.com have created a special IT Archive section with dozens of links to articles and photos that have been published. Check out the archive at: http://phisharchive.com/articles/it.html
A couple other items of note:
LIVEPHISH.COM 'IT' PACKAGE INCLUDES TOWER SET + SOUNDCHECK
In response to overwhelming demand, we are pleased to announce the release of the Sound Check and Tower Jam from this past weekend at It. You may purchase the entire weekend of music (that's 10 CD's worth!) as one package for $23.90 MP3 or $29.90 FLAC at http://www.livephish.com/packages/phish_it.asp
Phish played an extended soundcheck late Friday night as thousands were stuck in traffic waiting to get into the festival grounds. Also, at 2 AM late Saturday night, Phish magically appeared atop the control tower of the former Air Force Base and played an improvisational set while the tower was bathed in lights and dancers on rappel lines swirled in sync with the music and lights.
These two bonus discs worth of music are now available free to all Live Phish users who have already purchased the entire summer tour or purchased both days of It individually.
Special thanks to Chris McGregor, of Stage II Design and Production in San Francisco, who designed and lit the special Tower Set, and our good friends at Project Bandaloop (http://www.projectbandaloop.org/), who rappelled from the top of the tower.
THE T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST / PHISH DRY GOODS UPDATE
As many saw in the flesh this past weekend, the winning It design featured our old friend Johnny on the Spot (the humble Port-o-Let). This integral part of a multi-day festival was captured by art-school student William J Smith of Savannah Georgia. Once again we thank all 857 entrants for participating in the contest. We have created a gallery of the best designs on the web site at http://www.phish.com/galleries/index.php?ID=10. We unfortunately ran out of most It merchandise (including the winning design) before the bell tolled. More of some of the items are available for order at Dry Goods at http://www.phish.com/drygoods/home/category.html?cid=19. (Sorry, no more It posters, but we do have mugs, magnets, sweatshirts, and a couple of the Ts.)

PRE-REGISTRATION and General Race Information for the Runway Jim Memorial 5k Road Race are now available on-line on the It website. Pre-Registration is ONLY available on-line through JULY 30 at NOON. Please note: Pre-registation is available on a first-come first registered basis. Due to course constraints, there are only 1,500 spots available, and once these are filled we will no longer accept registrations via the web. If you miss the chance to register online see below for more information about running in the race.
Officially Registered runners receive a numbered race bib for official timing. We encourage runners to pre-register on-line as only limited registration may be available up in Maine. If you're not registered, have no fear -- runners who are not registered may run at the end of the pack behind the Official Runners.
The race starts 11:00 am sharp Sunday morning. The start and finish lines are located in the area directly in front of the Control Tower, facing the campground. The course is a 5 kilometer loop along the outer tarmac around the campground. The course race will be shown on the venue map you receive when you arrive to IT. Runners will be running on pavement not grass. The Runaway Jim 5k Race Registration Table, providing Numbered Bib pick up, General Race Information and Course Maps, is open Saturday 12-5 p.m. in the "Outfield 13" area. For a full schedule and listing of race information check out the Runaway Jim Memorial 5k general information page on the IT website, http://www.phish.com/it/5k/index.html. -
As Phish's summer tour departs glorious Wisconsin, preparations are well underway for IT up in Limestone, Maine. With the festival so close, we're excited to announce just a few of the key elements and events that are shaping up:
* THE BUNNY 96.1 FM Get your ears on. High up on the list of essentials to bring to IT would be a boombox. Why? Out of a little trailer behind the stage, we'll be pumping out 100,000 watts of killer music, traffic reports and event updates, roving interviews with those of you with a penchant for the microphone, a double session of Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro's "From the Archives" shows, late night audio buggery and have we mentioned the live broadcasts of all six Phish sets? Look for The Bunny out in Sunk City (more on that later) where you can speak your peace. The Bunny airs 24 hours a day beginning Friday, August 1 at 6 AM through Monday, August 4 at 2 PM. If you tune in before or after these times and you hear Jewel, don't freak out, you're hearing WQHR, a lovely adult contemporary radio station that we're hijacking for the weekend. Bring the boombox!
* THE RUNAWAY JIM MEMORIAL 5K ROAD RACE Nothing like a crisp morning run to get the blood flowing. The 100th Running of the First Annual Runaway Jim Memorial 5K Road Race winds through the campground Sunday morning at 11 am. The race will showcase some of the best and brightest in Tent City as they compete for the prestigious Limestone Cup (there will be a separate Cup for men and women). The band will preside over a moving Winners' Ceremony onstage during their set Sunday afternoon. All official runners will need to be registered. We'll make an announcement next week offering preregistration on the IT website, and we'll also offer limited registration up in Maine. Registration will be limited to 1,500 official runners due to the logistics involved -- PLEASE only sign up if you're serious. Serious enough to show up, not serious enough to win. If you're not registered, have no fear -- you can still run at the end of the pack. SNEAKERS REQUIRED. Drug testing will not take place before or after the race.
* SUNK CITY + OUTFIELD 13 As we've noted in other updates, the concert field has been moved from past Maine festivals. The new location features a number of wooded areas, which the Visual Design team has used to their full advantage. Nestled amongst the pines is SUNK CITY, an excavated skyline with art installations and interactive works in progress galore (10,000 rolls of masking tape, anyone?). We've opened the venue up early -- noon each day -- to accommodate for extended browsing, so be sure to check it out. Centered between the Campgrounds and the Concert Field is OUTFIELD 13, a bustling hub of tasty cuisine, unique craft vendors, the House of Live Phish (see below), WaterWheel HQ, the good ol' United States Post Office, amusement rides, and the General Store (with ice and beer aplenty).
* HOUSE OF LIVE PHISH Amidst the commotion will be a tranquil, well-lit, air-conditioned tent to create your own custom FREE Live Phish CD. Create a playlist from hundreds of Live Phish tracks preloaded onto a couple dozen iMacs, burn a CD on iTunes, and walk out with a great mix for the ride home. Or if you've had your fill of Phish, come on in, check your email, check the scores -- whatever your pleasure. Special thanks to Apple Computer for providing the iMacs and Verbatim for providing the top quality blank media.

Wipe your brows, contestants, because the winner of the It Design contest has been selected. It was a difficult decision: there were many excellent entries (857 to be exact), but only one winner. We thank the hundreds who entered, all excellent Number Twos, and salute William J Smith, an art-school student from Savannah, Georgia as our Number One. His design has a certain je ne sais quoi, a subtlety capturing the essence of a two-day music festival in a way absolutely everyone can appreciate. The design will be kept under wraps until it appears on the spot, as if out of a can, up in Maine.
For your viewing pleasure, a number of close runners-up are on display in a gallery in the East Wing of Phish.com. -
Welcome to the third coming of the official Phish Web site. Nearly seven years to the day when we first hung out our virtual shingle, Phish.com is now a full grown adult (in web years). Fully loaded, with all the options, there's some serious data flowing through this beaut.
We had great response with the 'From the Road' feature on the Trey Anastasio website and have added it to the navigation on the new Phish site. Though we can't guarantee we'll beat fan sites to the punch, we'll put up setlists from each show as soon as we get the official word. In addition, we'll have road musings, audio, video and photos coming in from band and crew on a regular basis.
The Official Releases section is finally online, with all of the band's audio and video releases, including the Live Phish series. Each album includes lyrics, audio samples, and links. We plan to add video footage and photo galleries for some of the releases in the weeks ahead.
If you've got your geek on, you'll appreciate our RSS feeds. Frankly, we don't really understand what they do, but our site designers assure us that both news and tourdates have RSS feeds you can subscribe to read in any RSS Newsreader.
We pushed the site live to coincide with the start of Phish's summer tour, but we can't guarantee that it's fully bug-free...yet. PC users shouldn't have a problem, but if you're on a Mac (and we're all on Macs here at Phish HQ), consider viewing the site on the Safari or Camino browsers for best results (MAC OSX required). It will run on Internet Explorer for the Mac, but the ride will be smoother on Safari. if you notice anything really bizarre happening, or even have suggestions, drop us a line at web@phish.com. -
All 21 of Phish's concerts this summer, including IT, Phish's tour-ending 2-day fest in Northern Maine, will be available for download at http://livephish.com. You may pre-order the entire tour at a special discount or pre-order individual shows. Each show will be available for download within 48 hours of the actual performance.
With the addition of the summer tour, there's a substantial amount of music up on the LIVEPHISH.COM website: 41 shows, including Phish's NYE and February tours, plus several archival releases. All 10 dates of Trey Anastasio's spring tour are also available. Look for more archival Phish
releases later this year.
Limited tickets are available for many of the shows on Phish's summer tour. Visit the Phish website for full show information. All 21 of Phish's concerts this summer, including IT, Phish's tour-ending 2-day fest in Northern Maine, will be available for download at http://livephish.com. -
We're pleased to announce that Mike Gordon will release his solo debut "INSIDE IN" later this summer on Ropeadope Records.
Four years in the making, INSIDE IN started with OUTSIDE OUT, Mike's first feature film. With the theatrical and DVD releases behind him, Mike went back to the mostly instrumental soundtrack and significantly reworked the material, creating songs out of jams and adding lyrics to pieces that previously had none. Though there's clearly a link between film and album, it is only loosely a soundtrack.
All fifteen tracks were penned by Mike, who plays all guitars and basses as well as Wurlitzer, accordion, washing machine, cow tilt, etc. In addition, Gordon's backed by an all-star band: drummer Russ Lawton,
James Harvey on trombone, piano and clavinet, and Gordon Stone on pedal steel. Special guests include Jon Fishman, Bela Fleck, Jeff Coffin, Craig Johnson, Col. Bruce Hampton (ret.), Future Man, Buddy Cage, and Vassar Clements.
The album will be in stores August 26. Watch this space for pre-order information over the next couple of weeks. For more info, go to http://www.ropeadope.com. -
It was 74 degrees today on the runway up in Limestone, and our team is in full swing preparing the site for IT, Phish's tour-ending festival up in Maine on August 2 and 3.
Lars Fisk and Russ Bennett (the designers behind such Phish festivals as all of them) are heading up our creative team again and cooking up a feast of visual delights. As we've announced in previous updates, the concert area is in a new location, centrally located, and with knolls and clusters of evergreens throughout. We'll be opening up the venue earlier on Saturday and Sunday than in years past to give fans plenty of time to explore.
The IT web site is open for your viewing pleasure at http:///www.phish.com/it. We've posted the first wave of info about the festival and plan to update it regularly as details get confirmed.
Tickets for IT are still available via the Phish Tickets web site, phishtickets.rlc.net, and via Ticketmaster Online at ticketmaster.com. Tickets may also be charged by phone at the following Northeast Ticketmaster numbers: 207.775.3331, 617.931.2000, 413.733.2500, 212.307.7171, 802.862.5300, 518.476.1000, 401.331.2211, and 757.671.8100. We recommend that tickets be purchased well in advance. -

All submissions must be sent in by Wednesday, June 25 at NOON EST. Be sure to include your full name and a way to reach you by phone day and evening. PHISH will release the next four volumes of their LIVE PHISH series on May 20. "Live Phish", Volumes 17-20 will feature selections made by Mike Gordon, after reviewing 20 years of personal journals, most of them commentary about Phish shows. Using his notes as a guide, he whittled down the list of 1,331 candidates -- that's (give or take) the number of Phish gigs between 10/30/83 and 10/7/2000 -- to a manageable 50. he halved that list to 25 and then further excised it down to 10 before making a final selection of four "Mike's Picks." Two of the releases are two-disc sets. The other two are three disc sets, and as a bonus, they include significant extra 'filler' tracks from additional shows.
We're still updating the Live Phish CDs web site http://cds.livephish.com with the new material -- look for audio and video samples of the new shows by the end of the month. In the meantime, you can view full setlists and filler tracks on the Phish Dry Goods site at http://www.phish.com/drygoods.

Phish will end their summer tour with "It", a 2-day festival held at the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone, Maine on August 2 + 3, 2003.
"It" will be Phish's first time back to the legendary site which brought you "The Great Went" in 1997 and "Lemonwheel" in 1998. We've spent a great deal of energy on looking at how we can improve the site. Initial plans involve us placing the stage in a central location, allowing fans much closer proximity to the performance area. In addition, we hope to be able to have everyone be able to park and camp on grass.
As with all Phish festivals, It will feature three sets of Phish each day, as well as numerous attractions and art installations created by talented teams of artists and performers.
Tickets for It go on sale this Thursday, March 27 at 12 NOON via Phish Tickets-by-Mail, located at http://phishtickets.rlc.net, and via Ticketmaster Online at http://ticketmaster.com. Tickets may also be charged by phone at the following Northeast Ticketmaster numbers: 207.775.3331, 617.931.2000, 413.733.2500, 212.307.7171, 802.862.5300, 518.476.1000, 401.331.2211, and 757.671.8100. There is a limit of 6 tickets per person. As we said above, we're making a considerable effort on creating a more comfortable experience, and as a result, the capacity for this year's event has been reduced from years past. We strongly recommend that tickets be purchased well in advance.
We'll be creating a special web site for It that we hope to launch within a couple of weeks. Stay tuned for more info. -

Thanks for all of the valuable feedback. In response to your suggestions, the download process has been reengineered from the ground up. Now when you purchase a show, you can download each song from that show individually instead of downloading an entire CD's worth of music at once. We have discovered through your feedback that many cable modem and DSL service providers reset your internet connection after a certain amount of data transfer. By downloading one song at a time, especially for SHN purchases, you should get a more reliable download. Please review the newly-revised FAQ for detailed instructions on how to download and burn shows to CD. We also have instructions on how to resume your downloads if you get disconnected.

Mike joined mandolinist Jamie Masefield and guitarist Doug Perkins for a benefit performance this past Saturday, January 18, at the Village Meeting House in rural Starksboro, Vermont. The show was the trio's second benefit at the Meeting House. The first show, in January of 2000, allowed the Meeting House to buy a furnace. "There was much warmth," Mike said of this year's gig. The two-set show included a variety of jazz and bluegrass standards, including "Bewitched", "Doin' My Time", "Devil's Dream", plus some of Jamie and Doug's originals.
Some notes on the gig from Mike:
"This gig reeked of specialness. The vibe, for example, was being set an hour before we played by a man whose job was to lower the old church's central chandelier in order light 25 or so oil lamps, so that we could see. The crowd was whisper soft as we started tinkling the old ivories (strings, actually). None of us predicted how nicely the three instruments and two voices would gel. We did some jazz, bluegrass, folky and funky things in each set. The cookies and muffins were top notch. Normally reserved for preschoolers, the dressing decor was bright and fingerpainted."
