Vida Blue show announced

Page will be heading out with his new band Vida Blue for a short nine show East Coast tour over two weeks beginning April 18 and ending with a New Orleans show on Saturday, April 27th at the Orpheum Theatre.

The show is part of the Superfly Jazzfest Concert Series and falls during the first weekend of the Jazz & Heritage Festival. Toronto trio The New Deal will open the show.

If you didn’t see or hear of Vida Blue’s year-end dates in Vermont and New York, here’s the rundown: The group features one of the most muscular and inventive rhythm sections playing today — bassist Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers Band) and drummer Russell Batiste (funky Meters). For Vida Blue, Page steers away from his trademark piano sounds and draws textures from a wider arsenal of vintage keyboards to showcase his spacious songwriting.

Page is putting the finishing touches on Vida Blue’s studio album, primarily recorded last fall in New Orleans, and will be mixing the tracks later this month with longtime collaborator Jon Siket. The album is due out in early summer on Elektra Entertainment. The band expects to tour again in July.

We’ll be announcing the remaining tourdates at the end of next week. There will be a Tickets-by-Mail online ticketing lottery announced at the same time. For detailed show information of the New Orleans show, check out the tourdates page on this site or http://superflypresents.com/.
