Show Notes

This was Phish’s first show at Johnson State College. It featured the 1st and only known performance of The Chicken (James Brown cover). Sneakin’ Sally Thru The Alley, which had a vocal jam, and The Ballad Of Curtis Loew both featured Lighting Director Tim Rogers aka “Bobby Brown” on harmonica. You Enjoy Myself did not include a vocal jam. Flat Fee was commonly labeled “Jerry’s Beard” on circulating tapes. During The Lizards intro, Fish lost his drumsticks and the band had to stop playing until he found them – an act which cost him some ribbing from Trey. David Bowie included teases of Timber (Jerry), Sunshine Of Your Love (Cream cover), Whipping Post, Weekapaug Groove and more. Dinner And A Movie was dedicated to “our good friend Susannah”. During Run Like An Antelope, Trey added alternate lyrics to the usual Marco Esquandolas section, “Poster Nutbag, Moses Heaps, Moses DeWitt”.
