This was Phish's third show at The Paradise - an 18-and-over show. Page and Mike visited WERS, Emerson College's radio station for an interview earlier in the day. During the interview, they talked about Trey being in Vermont arranging the horn parts for Split Open And Melt. Trey flew into Boston for the show that night. According to the interview, they had recorded Split Open and Melt and Bathtub Gin that week with prize money from the Rock Rumble.
