Show Notes

This was Phish’s second performance at the Barrymore Theatre – an all ages show that happened to take place during the 20th annual Great Midwest Marijuana Harvest Festival aka Madison’s “HempFest”. The show was presented by TMJ Productions. Tickets were $10 advance or $12 at the door. During Guelah Papyrus, Trey paused to welcome the audience to the Hemp Festival to which Mike responded “Free the weed!” Jason Colton made an Announcement after David Bowie (during the set break) offering half price tickets to anybody still shut out of the show. After Runaway Jim, Trey pointed out “a very famous person” in the audience, actor John Basili, saying this was more exciting than Stephen King’s recent attendance at a show. The Squirming Coil developed into a little jam with teases of Linus and Lucy before Page’s usual piano outro. Memories and Sweet Adeline were both performed without microphones. Hold Your Head Up/Love You/Hold Your Head Up and Llama comprised a second encore, performed after the band left the stage and returned following Rocky Top. The show ended with a final announcement from Jason Colton thanking fans for coming and urging them to pick up any garbage they saw lying around to make it easier on cleaning staff.
