This was Phish's 1st show in Louisiana and the beginning of a long and close relationship between Phish and Tipitina's and the city of New Orleans. Tipitina's is a club founded by a community consortium to thwart racial prejudice by providing a venue for the late, great Professor Longhair (Henry Roland Byrd) to perform. Throughout its history, Tip's has continued to celebrate New Orleans music, hosting local and touring bands with a constant eye toward helping develop local musicians and their craft. The club is something of a shrine to Longhair and has a capacity of about 1,000. The setlist was compiled from Andrew Fischbeck's notes and fan reports and is likely incomplete. Low Rider was played for the first time in over a year and a half (since 3/13/89).
