Show Notes

This was Phish’s 1st and only performance at The Wiltern – an oppulent, Art Deco vaudeville and movie theater built in 1931 with a capacity of about 2,200. Tickets cost $17.50. On the band’s behalf, John Paluska invited The Simpsons creator Matt Groening to this show. This began a long relationship with The Simpson’s. Funky Bitch from the soundcheck contained Low Rider teases. The funky Dog Log from the soundcheck included jamming on Today. The soundcheck continued with the 1st known Today (Smashing Pumpkins cover) played. Sweet Adeline and Amazing Grace were performed A capella without microphones. Run Like An Antelope included The Simpsons secret language during the intro and All Fall Down and Oom Pah Pah secret language during the jam. You Enjoy Myself included a Louie Louie Jam (Richard Berry cover). Set II was the Big Black Furry Creature From Mars set as the band kept returning to Creature throughout. Trey sang the verses of Fee through his megaphone. Run Like An Antelope > Big Black Furry Creature From Mars > Run Like An Antelope was included on LiveBait08 which was released as a free download at livephish.com in August 2012.
