Show Notes

This was Phish’s 1st show at this former Dixieland nightclub opened as The Bayou in 1965 with a capacity of 400. It was an 18-and-over show, cover was $5, the venue was about half full and the balcony was closed. Carolina and You Enjoy Myself were basically “live soundcheck” songs replete with level adjustments. After You Enjoy Myself, Fish apologized for the audio adjustments saying once they got the mix together, “we promise to kill ya.” Trey introduced Fish as Phil Collins during I Didn’t Know. During Take The ‘A’ Train, the band teased The Flintstones Theme and the Popeye Theme. For the 1st time in Phish history, before Lawn Boy, Trey introduced lyricist Tom Marshall referring to him as the fifth member of the band. Fish cried audibly during the “woke up one morning and realized i love you” lyrics of Contact. A band called Exit Only opened.
