This was Phish's seventh and last show at The 23 East. The show took place the day before Trey's birthday less than an hour from his home. At midnight "after the witching hour", the band and audience sung Happy Birthday to Trey. Along with Happy Birthday in its intro, this rendition of David Bowie contained some Manteca-like teases/jamming. At the start of set II, Buzz Knight and Pierre Robert (aka Peter Roberts) from 93.3 WMMR introduced the band.
