This was the second show of an all ages, 2-night stand. Col. Bruce Hampton & The Aquarium Rescue Unit opened. By some reports, Colonel Forbin’s Ascent featured an unknown guest horn player dressed outrageously in a leopard skin toga and bright orange Mohawk hairdo. While this is a great description of something that could have happened, no horn is audible on the master tapes. Harry Hood was dedicated to Vermont dairy farmers and Trey teased L.A. Woman during Possum. Before Terrapin, Trey thanked everybody for a great two nights, complimented The Aquarium Rescue Unit and dedicated the song not to Cam Neely (as some in the crowd were heckling for) but instead to Marni Davis, John Paluska’s assistant at Dionysian Productions without whom, as Trey and Fish put it, “you wouldn’t get the mailing list.” Trey said “…the spirit of Marni is with us all the time. We Love you Marni and this song sums up our feelings about you.” Golgi Apparatus was a second encore, played after the band left the stage and returned following Runaway Jim.
