Show Notes

Saltair Pavilion was part of a historic lakeside resort originally opened in 1893.  The ballroom Phish played was built in the 1980’s with a capacity of 3,500.  The June/July 93 Phish Update and the tour itinerary showed 8/21/93 as a day off but the tapes and notes confirm the show happened on the 21st.  Béla Fleck and the Flecktones opened.  Before Fish’s Madonna washboard solo in I Didn’t Know, Trey introduced him by saying “Henrietta is now going to attempt to convince Béla to let him play on his next album on the washboard.”  Trey sang the verses of Fee through his megaphone.  The Flecktones (Béla Fleck on electric banjo, Victor Wooten on bass, and Roy “Future Man” Wooten on synthaxe drumitar) joined the band during the Fee outro and stayed for the remainder of the set, but not the encore.  Before the Hold Your Head Up intro, Trey again introduced Fish as Henrietta.  Before If I Only Had A Brain, Fish said “now we’re going to sing an old favorite for everybody…from the Wizard Of Oz soundtrack.”  The Flecktones Jam after the Hold Your Head Up outro started as Drums with each band member and guest joining in.  Lawn Boy was teased in the early part of Harry Hood.  Daniel Saw The Stone included a full scatting breakdown.  Amazing Grace was performed without microphones.  Béla Fleck re-joined the band on banjo for Nellie Kane.  The next show was in Vancouver.
