Show Notes

This was Phish’s 1st and only show at the so-called University at Buffalo or UB. The venue was a multi-purpose arena with a capacity at the time of approximately 9,000. Tickets cost $10.00. During soundcheck, Trey fell through a hole in the stage and tore the ligaments in his ankle. From this point throughout the next dozen or more shows, he wore a brace (dubbed “the Buffalo Boot”) and played mostly seated on a stool. My Friend My Friend ended with an Including Your Own “Hey” influenced jam during which Trey repeated some lyrics from Right Back Inside My Heart (Julie Cruise cover). Ginseng Sullivan was performed by Trey on acoustic guitar, Mike on bass, Page on piano and Fish on Madonna washboard. After Hold Your Head Up, Trey introduced Fish as Greasy Fizeek. Following this show the band and crew traveled 485 miles overnight to Durham, New Hampshire.
