Show Notes

This was the first of only three headline shows between the 1-set European and H.O.R.D.E. dates and Santana tour. The shows were never announced in the traditional sense. They were mentioned in the June/July/August 92 Phish Update: “After a couple of regular Phish gigs in Virginia and/or North Carolina, we will spend the rest of the summer opening for Santana.” That newsletter shows July 14, 15 and 16 “Headline shows in Virginia/North Carolina – TBA. Call Hotline.” This venue was an old boat storage house turned concert hall with a capacity of about 2400. During the beginning of The Squirming Coil, Trey added the alternate lyric “and this is where it went” after the first chorus of “It got away”. The You Enjoy Myself intro included The Simpsons secret language and later parts of the songs include extra yelling, testimony and scatting from Trey. At one point, the vocal jam featured Fish screaming “I’m a monkey.” A cacaphonic ending to Take The ‘A’ Train led mightily into Tweezer Reprise. Note that the set I cassette master is missing from archives so this setlist was compliled from the archives master of set II and Brian Sprouse’s audience recording of set I.
