Show Notes

This was an 18-and-over show presented by Prism Productions’ Lee Berry in a venue that was had been converted from St. Andrew’s Memorial Episcopal Church to a rock club in 1980.  Dubbed “America’s Craziest Club” by Spin Magazine, St. Andrew’s capacity is around 1,000.  Trey’s narration during Fly Famous Mockingbird involved sinking down through the floor and through the center of the earth to Gamehendge and even included a fleeting mention of The Rhombus as he explained “You’re not in Detroit anymore, you’re in Gamehendge.”  My Sweet One began with a short, Big Ball Jam-esque jam before the band started the lyrics.  You Enjoy Myself included some P-Funk inspired funk from Mike, some Finger Scrape secret language and a vocal jam that led into a full-band a cappella Shaggy Dog.  Although it was played occasionally at soundchecks, it had been more than three years since the band had last performed Shaggy Dog during a show (since 9/12/88).  Page teased Cold As Ice before and during the Chalk Dust Torture intro, though they ultimately chose Hold Your Head Up as Fish’s Intro/outro music.  Carolina was performed without microphones.  About the time of this show, rumors began to circulate about a possible opening slot on Santana’s upcoming summer tour.
