Show Notes

This show took place in a historic concert theater built in the early 1900’s with a capacity of about 2,600 and good enough acoustics to house the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. Though no official taping section had been established at this point, audience taping for this show took place behind the soundboard (and thus under the balcony overhang). Ya Mar, played during soundcheck included many Paul Simon jokes and teases, especially You Can Call Me Al which also permeated the Blues Jam that followed. I Didn’t Know featured a trombone solo from Fish, who Trey introduced as Tubbs. Timber (Jerry), which was sandwiched inside David Bowie, was played for the first time in more than two years (since 11/28/90). Multi-instrumentalist, Jamie Janover played Hammer Dulcimer onstage throughout the setbreak. Also at setbreak, Fish announced The Willis Tape (aka J. Willis Pratt “The Lost Paradox”) and suggested people buy it. This pre-NYE You Enjoy Myself featured an Auld Lang Syne jam. Each band member sent The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday out to their (and other) cousins. Trey dedicated Take The ‘A’ Train, which included a tease of Satin Doll from Page, to his uncle. Sweet Adeline was performed without microphones.
