Show Notes

This show took place in a historic Beaux Arts style movie/vaudeville house opened in 1928 with a capacity of 2,978. The Paramount had a convertible floor system to change the theatre to a ballroom, but it is believed Phish played in its theatre format. Baby Gramps opened. The AC/DC Bag opener included an unusual outro jam that led into Daniel Saw The Stone. Before Ginseng Sullivan, Trey used the megaphone to get people’s attention and then, without a mic, explained that the band was going to do a couple songs “without any sound system or anything at all.” Ginseng Sullivan and Nellie Cane were subsequently performed without amplification with Trey on acoustic guitar, Mike on upright bass, Page on vocals and Fish on Madonna washboard. Amazing Grace was also performed without microphones. The second round of solos in Paul And Silas were sung in vocal jam style (with Fish still playing drums) rather than played. Trey began My Friend My Friend on acoustic guitar. Baby Gramps sat in with Phish for the You Enjoy Myself vocal jam and the 1st performance of his song Nothin’ But A Nothin’ (on which Fish played vacuum).
