Show Notes

This was Phish’s 1st show at New Haven Coliseum, an arena with a capacity of 11,171. For the entire 1993 holiday tour the stage was set up as an aquarium, complete with seaweed, rocks, swimming fish and a giant clam. The snow had mostly dissipated by showtime on the 29th, but roads were still bad before and after this show. For the second time in two days, Peaches en Regalia was performed in memory of Frank Zappa. Glide contained The Simpsons secret language. This rendition of Stash included a jam based on the music from the evening news with Connie Chung, whom Trey referenced during the jam. After The Squirming Coil, Page said “thank you so much, we’re going to take a short break. Don’t go away.” During Contact, Chris Kuroda unleashed his new Phish Logo gobos, which allowed him to project Phish logos anywhere in the room and move/spin them at will. Big Black Furry Creature From Mars was unfinished and segued directly into Walk Away. After the Hold Your Head Up intro, Fish introduced If I Only Had A Brain by talking about his hairdresser and his new haircut. Sweet Adeline was performed with microphones.
