Show Notes

This show took place in a multi-purpose arena laid out for horse shows with a dirt floor and capacity of about 6,000. Tickets cost $16.50. This was also Phish’s fifth 4/20 show. Dave Matthews Band opened the show. Trey sang the second and third verses of Fee with his megaphone. After confusing some lines of the second (“stay with Milly”) chorus with the third (“Floyd is Dead”) chorus, Trey corrected himself, exclaiming “he’s not dead yet!”. Trey was on crutches with his foot in a brace due to torn ligaments. Accordingly, You Enjoy Myself featured Dave Matthews on mini-tramps substituing for Trey on the trampolines segment. After the trampolines, Dave stayed onstage and was joined for the rest of You Enjoy Myself and Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Carter Beauford (on drums), LeRoi Moore (on saxophone), Boyd Tinsley (on fiddle), and Steffan Lessard (on bass) from the Dave Matthews Band. During this jam, Fish played vacuum, leaving drumming duties to Carter. This version of You Enjoy Myself lacked a vocal jam. Instead the group jam with DMB developed into an instrumental rendition of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which was performed for the 1st time in nearly two years (since 8/17/92).
