This was the first show of a 2-night stand and Phish’s only visit to this venue – a historic, Baroque, Chicago-style theater known as “the first modern commercial playhouse west of the Mississippi” opened in 1912 with a capacity of about 1,360. Tickets cost $18.50 and the show was sold out. Runaway Jim featured a Gypsy Queen tease. Trey started singing the first verse of Fee through his megaphone but it failed so he ditched it and sang without it. I’m Blue I’m Lonesome and My Long Journey home were performed acoustic without amplification with with Trey on acoustic guitar, Mike on banjo, Page on upright bass and Fish on mandolin. Amazing Grace was performed A capella without microphones. This rendition of You Enjoy Myself was released on “A Live One”.
