Curveball, Phish’s eleventh festival and the first to be named Curveball, will take place August 17-19, 2018 at Watkins Glen International in Watkins Glen, NY. Located amidst the rolling hills of central New York’s Finger Lakes region, the site offers an abundance of campsites and is just a short drive from numerous northeastern cities.
Curveball is SOLD OUT.
Greetings from the lovely village of Watkins Glen, New York as we put the finishing touches on Curveball, Phish’s 11th festival. We’re not gonna lie: it’s a little moist here, as a decent amount of rain has fallen over the past few weeks. While the forecast looks positive for the next few days, there is still a possibility for more precipitation over the weekend. With that in mind, here are a few bits of advice:
Now, with that out of the way, on to the good stuff. In addition to previous announcements including The Bunny, The LOOP Game Show Tent, and the JEMP Records Store, here’s a further sneak peek of what we have in store here at the ‘Ball.
LAWN ARTS
We’ve been lucky to work with some great artists at every Phish festival and we are honored to welcome friends old and new to Curveball. Get lost in Lee Anderson’s aMAZEment park. Dodge the raindrops from Torin Porter’s torrent of a rain cloud. Visit Abby Manock’s world of geometrical piñatas and return often to see how they congeal into something enticingly whackable. How can something square become so delightfully curvaceous? Observe Michael Nedell’s parabolic production and behold the bending. Randy Gaetano looked to the trees to make his monumental weaving of wood. Pneuhouse’s pneumatic color clusters can be found here and there. Stand still long enough and you’re bound to run into Phinneus Sonin and his merry band of motley pranksters. Either that or they’ll run into you! Wander the valleys of Lars Fisk’s 27 Peaks and check the caves if you’re looking for shade.
ALSO: Beware the Mime Field!
FARMHAÜS / FARMERS MARKET / BEERS OF THE WORLD / FOOD VENDORS
Our friends at Skinny Pancake began slinging crepes in Burlington over 15 years ago and are now one of the leaders in Vermont’s happening local food culture. We’re thrilled they’ve come to run Farmhaüs, a 120-seat barn/restaurant offering selections from their locavore fare of crepes, burgers, salads as well as artisan roasted coffee.
Farmhaüs opens onto a Biergarten (21 options featuring Shelburne, VTs Fiddlehead Brewing, Coney Island Brewing Co and more) and Farmers Market, complete with farm stands, local food vendors and open-air seating. Vendors from VT and upstate NY will offer cheese, charcuterie, local organic fruits and vegetables, sauerkraut, kimchi, pickles, kombucha, and other prepared delicacies. ALSO: Tessa’s Lemonball Lemonade Stand! ALSO: Napkins!!
Beers Of The World is back at Curveball and will be the place to fill your tank with The Alchemist’s famed Heady Topper, Lawson’s Sip Of Sunshine, Lost Nation’s Mosaic IPA, Peak Organic Brewing Co’s Sweet Tarts and many more.
All of the above is in addition to the panoply of great food options all over the festival site. Highlights include: Arancini Bros’ rice balls., Pink’s Tacos, Bar Harbor Lobster Co’s fresh Maine lobstah rolls., Fire & Co’s. wood-fired cuisine, RIJuice’s organic cold pressed juices, Coexist Cuisine’s organic vegan and vegetarian cuisine, upstate NY’s Copperhorse Coffee and Grateful Grind Coffee, plus fan favorites Silo Truck’s Bomb chicken sandos, Loving Cup Coffee, Ozark Mtn. Biscuit Company, Disco Ice Cream Truck, and…….I LOVE SPICY PIE. Ben & Jerry’s will also be scooping all three flavors of Phish ice cream: Phish Food, It’s Ice…Cream & Freezer Reprise.
LIQUID TIME
Back by popular demand, our NYC beverage friends are returning to Curveball with a Phish festival cocktail program! Liquid Time, Farmhaüs and other locations across the grounds will feature the reprise of Cuddly But Muscular and Coconuts & Chloroform, and will welcome new selections like the Painted In Vermillion colada, Shocked & Persuaded passion fruit margarita, Island Tour “Iced Tea,” Lemon Wheel Cooler, and something called “milk”! Liquid Time is open Thursday to Sunday from 4pm-1am — swing by for a tipple!
ALSO: be on the lookout for the Super Frostie Slushie Truck!
AHEAD OF THE CURVE
Following in the tradition of All About It, The Coventry Courier, The Festival 8 Express, Ball Things Reconsidered and The Ball Street Journal, our friends at Relix Magazine will once again distribute a daily newspaper on site at Curveball. Ahead of the Curve will feature news, reviews, activities schedules and other pertinent festival info. It will also feature in-depth essays, fun games, Arlo & Janis and interviews with members of the Phish community. You can pick up AOTC at the Relix booth and throughout the Curveball site.
Tickets for Curveball are on sale now at curveball.frontgatetickets.com.
Tickets allow individuals to access the camping areas, however every vehicle entering the festival site camping areas will require a separate camping vehicle pass. These passes are sold on a per vehicle basis, so you can save money and reduce your environmental impact by carpooling.

If you’re still looking for a way to get to the festival, here are some ways to do it:
VOLUNTEER WITH CLEAN VIBES
Clean Vibes will be back on site at Curveball to help minimize the festival waste footprint by diverting all recyclables and compostables from the landfill. Every vehicle entering the festival will receive a trash bag and a recycling bag.
The team is currently putting together a team of dedicated volunteers to help with the waste diversion efforts at Curveball (in exchange for admittance to the festival). For more information on volunteering with Clean Vibes, click here.
WORK EXCHANGE TEAM: FANSTAFF PROGRAM
Work for Curveball in a variety of departments and gain access to a discounted attendee ticket. All FanStaff will be paid wages for hours worked. There are limited positions available, and FanStaff tickets are expected to sell out. For more details, click here.
All ages are welcome. Children 6 and older must have a weekend pass. Children ages 5 and under are free, as are adults ages 5 and under. All campers must be 18 years of age or older or accompanied by a parent or guardian.
This is a rain or shine event. No refunds or exchanges. In the event of neither rain nor shine, Australian rules apply. See below for complete details.
This gives you access to all three days of Curveball and GA campgrounds. If you are bringing a vehicle you must also purchase a vehicle camping pass (1 per car or RV). If you are bringing Terry, you must also purchase snacks or he’ll never shut up about it.
This gives you access to all three days of Curveball, the GA campgrounds and Glen Close campgrounds (for info about exactly what Glen Close includes, click the “view all camping options” button in the camping section). Glen Close weekend passes are only available by purchasing a Glen Close camping package. Each Glen Close camping package includes one Glen Close vehicle camping pass (choose car or RV) and two Glen Close weekend passes with the option to purchase an additional Glen Close weekend pass during the purchase process (while supplies last).
Secure your Curveball passes and packages now and split your payment into two installments. When you are completing your order you can opt into the layaway plan for an additional fee of $10 per order.
Your first payment of 50% + fees and shipping secures your order. The remaining 50% will automatically be charged on Wednesday, May 16th to the card used to purchase. Using the Keep it Rolling layaway plan means you agree to the terms & conditions including a default policy.
Orders are beginning to ship in the order that they were placed. You will receive a shipping confirmation email when your order is on its way to you. When you receive your order you will notice that instead of paper tickets we are using RFID wristbands for entry. Do not put on your wristband until right before you arrive at the festival.
You don’t have to register your wristband, but we highly recommend it! Registration links the wristband to the person using it, not just the person who purchased it. Once registered under your name, it proves that it belongs to you (and you only).
We can replace it easily if it’s registered to you and something happens to your wristband, for example: you lost it, someone stole it, or it gets damaged.
Register your wristband HERE.
Visit support.frontgatetickets.com for all ticketing issues or call 888.512.SHOW (Mon-Sat, 10am to 10pm ET and Sun 10am to 7pm ET )
Bringing a vehicle to camp on site? Every vehicle (car, truck, SUV, van, RV, etc.) entering Curveball will require a separate camping vehicle pass. These passes are sold on a per vehicle basis, so you can save money and reduce your environmental impact by carpooling. All camping vehicle passes may be added to your weekend pass purchase and are available in limited quantities so we strongly suggest purchasing in advance if you plan on parking a vehicle in the campgrounds. Like, strongly. All Glen Close camping and on-site accommodation packages include a vehicle pass. No box trucks will be allowed in the campgrounds. Boxtrolls are fine.
The GA campgrounds will open Thursday, August 16th at Noon. Want to come a day early? Grab an early Wednesday arrival vehicle pass when passes go on sale Friday, March 2nd at Noon Eastern. Early Wednesday arrival vehicle passes are very limited and do not guarantee you will camp in a specific campground. Glen Close campgrounds and all other on-site accommodation campgrounds (i.e. RV and tent rental programs) will open Wednesday August 15th at Noon.
Complete details on all car/RV camping passes, Glen Close, rentals (including tent and RV), and traveling packages below.

CAN MY FRIENDS AND I BRING INSTRUMENTS AND AMPLIFIERS AND PLAY IN THE CAMPGROUND?
Only acoustic instruments will be allowed in camping (no instruments in the concert area). If we allowed everyone who asks to bring amplifiers it would be a free-for-all out there, and not fair to fellow campers who don’t want to hear your reggae cover of “Everlong.”
CAN I CAMP IN MY CAR?
You may camp in your car in the car camping campgrounds only. Every vehicle entering the festival site will require a separate camping vehicle pass. These passes are sold on a per vehicle basis, so you can save money and reduce your environmental impact by carpooling. You may add a GA car camping vehicle pass to your GA weekend pass ticket order. Camping space is limited so we suggest grabbing one early. All Glen Close car camping packages include a vehicle pass.
CAN I BRING 1 CAR AND BUY 2 CAR CAMPING PASSES TO HAVE A BIGGER CAMPSITE?
No.
CAN I BRING COLLEEN CAMP IN MY CAR?
That’s up to her.
CAN I BRING AN RV?
You may camp in your RV in the RV camping campgrounds only. If you are bringing an RV or oversized vehicle (larger than 15 passenger van, no box trucks) then the vehicle will require a GA RV camping vehicle pass. Available prior to checkout when you purchase your GA weekend pass. There are no power or water hook-ups for General Admission RV Camping. All Glen Close RV camping packages include a Glen Close RV camping vehicle pass.
CAN MY FRIENDS PARK THEIR CAR NEXT TO MY RV IN THE RV CAMPGROUND?
Yes as long as they 1) arrive along with the RV at the same time and 2) purchase a $15 RV companion vehicle pass available prior to check out when purchasing an RV camping vehicle pass or a la carte.
I ALREADY BOUGHT BY GA WEEKEND PASSES BUT NOW I NEED TO BUY A CAR CAMPING PASS. HOW CAN I GET ONE?

MAY I MAKE A CAMPFIRE OR USE A STOVE TO COOK?
Feel free to bring your own food and beverages into the camping area. However, campfires, fire pits, fire cages, or any open flames are not allowed anywhere on site. Small portable propane camp stoves will be allowed. No charcoal grills, please and no full-size propane tanks will be allowed.
CAN I CALL IT “CURFBALL”?
Knock yourself out.
CAN WE PARK WHEREVER WE WANT AND MOVE OUR CARS ONCE WE ARE IN?
No! The parking staff will direct you to your camping area when you arrive. Groups who wish to camp in the same vicinity should plan to meet far from the festival grounds to line up their vehicles and stay together prior to entering the gates. It will not be possible to hold spaces for other vehicles arriving later.
Once you are parked in a camping area you may not move your vehicle for the duration of the festival. This is for your safety and the safety of your neighbors. If you plan to drive in and out of the event grounds over the weekend, you should park in the “Day Parking” area. Ask the parking staff to direct you there upon entering the festival grounds. DAY PARKING IS FREE. If a car is parked and left unattended on any public road it WILL BE TOWED at the owner’s expense.
Given the configuration and the limitations of this site we need everyone to cooperate with the staff and park where directed and remain there. Please understand that when anyone disregards the parking and camping instructions it can create a domino effect that will ultimately impact everyone’s comfort and safety. And no one wants a domino effect.
It is ESSENTIAL that all vehicle lanes be kept clear and open at all times. Please help us by reminding your neighbors that this is for your safety as well as theirs.
CAN I USE A TARP TO CLAIM MY CAMPING SPOT A WEEK BEFORE ANYONE ARRIVES?
No.
CAN I BRING A TARP INSIDE OF THE CONCERT GROUNDS?
No tarps will be allowed into the concert field.
CAN I RIDE MY BICYCLE TO THE FESTIVAL AND RIDE IT INSIDE THE FESTIVAL GROUNDS?
You can ride your bike to the festival, but not in the event area. No bikes will be allowed in camping or concert area. For safety reasons, any form of transportation that would carry you faster than a walking pace will not be allowed (this includes bikes and skateboards).
I’M A PRETTY SOLID UNICYCLIST SO —
Next question.
WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT FOR CAMPING?
All campers must be 18 or older unless accompanied by an adult or legal guardian.
WHERE DO PEOPLE THAT ARE STAYING WITH ME IN MY RV BUT DRIVING UP SEPARATELY PARK FOR THE WEEKEND?
They will be directed into one of the car camping campgrounds when they arrive. Their vehicle will need a car camping vehicle pass.
CAN WE BRING ALCOHOL?
A reasonable amount of beer (limited to one case of beer per person per car – no full size kegs, no glass, no liquor), for personal consumption only (no vending), by folks who are of legal age (21) – will be permitted into the camping areas (not concert area). A mini-keg is permissible, as long as it is plastic. A mini-keg will equal one case of beer. If, however, in the security’s judgment it appears that the amount of alcohol is excessive for the number of persons in the vehicle, or if anyone in the vehicle is under 21 years of age, or if Tim is there, the organizers reserve the right to deny entry of the vehicle and/or confiscate the alcohol. Full sized metal Kegs may not be brought onto the property, even if they are wearing full metal jackets. Please keep these things in mind and be sensible about how much you plan to bring in. Beer will be available for purchase on the concert field.

Yes there are free showers that will be accessible for 18 hours of the day.
CAN I BRING FOOD/BEVERAGES AND CHAIRS/COOLER INTO THE CAMP AREAS?
