We’ve been talking about the recording of the Pork Tornado album for quite some time in these pages.

As the mystics say, good pork takes time, roasting for days (and in this case years) on a turning spit. Well, strap on your bibs. The self-titled debut album comes out on Rykodisc this fall, in record stores on October 1. The album was produced by Jon Fishman and Dan Archer, features studio versions of many classics from their live repertoire, and manages to plant its hind quarters all over the genre map, from traditional country and bar blues to raucous funk to more experimental explorations. Pork Tornado features Jon Fishman on drums, Dan Archer on guitar, Aaron Hersey on bass, Phil Abair on keyboards and Joe Moore on sax.

We’ll be launching a site in the coming weeks with an ‘album player’ so you can sample the goods for yourself. In the meantime, we’re taking preorders for the album on the Phish Dry Goods site at http://drygoods.phish.com/Dept.aspx?cp=773_1429_8990

The five piglets will each win one pair of tickets to the Pork show of their choice.
