Trey Anastasio’s SuperJam performance on 4/30/05 at the State Palace Theatre in New Orleans, LA is available for download now at http://www.livephish.com/show.asp?show=371. The show’s first set featured Trey’s new band and included a taste of local flavor featuring New Orleans’ Bruce "Sunpie" Barnes who joined the band on vocals and accordion for two of his original compositions. The second "SuperJam" set dug deeper into bayou and Jazzfest tradition with Cyril Neville on percussion and Greg Davis, Roger Lewis, Dave Grippo and Michael Ray comprising the horn section.
Rooted in New Orleans standards like "Big Chief" and "Hey Pocky A-way," the SuperJam also included other guests: Mike Gordon joined the band for the end of the second set, lending bass and vocals to "Sneaking Sally Through The Ally," Bob Marley’s "Three Little Birds," and Sly & The Family Stone’s "Thank You." Mike returned for the five-song encore, beginning as an acoustic duet with Trey performing Hank Williams’ "Old Habits," before the band returned with local legend Ivan Neville to close out the evening with a monster SuperJam rendition of The Meters’ "Fire On The Bayou." http://www.livephish.com/show.asp?show=371 to download the SuperJam from LivePhish.com.
