Show Notes

This was Phish’s first performance at The “E” Center of WVC – a modern multi-purpose arena near Salt Lake City opened in September 1997 with a capacity of 12,000. The venue was constructed for ice hockey in preparation for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. Tickets cost $22.50. Trey sang the Funky Bitch soundcheck. Maze was unfinished and ended with a segue to Fast Enough For You. Trey dedicated Guyute to Paul Languedoc because Paul had told him that “any tune with whistling is a good tune.” Trey then whistled the intro and “Marco Esquandolas” segments of Run Like An Antelope. Set II was fall’s first 4-song second set in the newfound tradition of 7/2/97. After this show the band and crew traveled 535 miles overnight to Denver for a day off. This show was released in 2023 at LivePhish.com.
