Show Notes
This was Phish’s sixth performance at MSG and the first show of a sold-out 3-night stand. Tickets cost $27.50. The Funky Bitch soundcheck was sung by Trey. NICU was unfinished and faded out at the end instead of the usual ending. Run Like An Antelope featured an extended ending with solos by Mike & Trey and some Mike foot bell plus a lyrical twist “Rye Rye Rocco, Marco Esquandolas…We’re going to take a fifteen minute break – lots more funky music just getting going, so don’t go anywhere…and Been you to have any Spike, man?” Down With Disease had a big, dark jam and was unfinished. David Bowie included a Run Like An Antelope jam and a Theme from James Bond tease by Mike. Tube was the new version with the funk jam in the middle – like 12/7/97 and 12/13/97 – and had an I Feel The Earth Move tease. Page teased I Can’t Turn You Loose during You Enjoy Myself. This show was released in 2007 on CD and audio/video download and streaming as LivePhish 12/29/97 New York, NY with CD filler of Funky Bitch > New York Soundcheck Jam.
