Show Notes

This was Phish’s fifth performance at Worcester Centrum Centre – the second show of a sold-out 3-night stand. Tickets cost $25.00. David Bowie had an extended intro that started as a bit of a Down With Disease fakeout. The set II opener Runaway Jim (aka “Runaway Jam”) was nearly 59 mins – one of the longest, most experimental renditions of any song ever played – and included many teases including bits of Beauty Of My Dreams, Harry Hood, Crosseyed And Painless, Bathtub Gin, What’s The Use? and a Weekapaug Groove jam. Buffalo Bill was the fifth-ever played (see 11/21/92, 12/31/94, 10/29/94, 8/17/97). Fish teased the Buffalo Bill beat and Trey said Fish wanted to play it and introduced it as Fish’s favorite song. Moby Dick that followed was the second-ever by Phish and first played in more than four years (since 2/19/93. Trey mimicked Robert Plant’s intro from The Song Remains the Same “Jon Fishman, Moby Dick!” The post-show house music was I Walk The Line.
