This was Phish’s second (and last to-date) performance at USAir Arena aka Cap Centre. Tickets cost $25.00 and the show was sold out. Page sang the Funky Bitch soundcheck. This unique Axilla contained the Axilla (Part II) ending without the ‘Hoist’ lyrics but with an extended instrumental outro. Before Ghost, Trey tried to get Paul to clean up some feedback and bantered about the real meaning of Ghost and feedback and decided the real meaning may be “the Ghost in the machine.” Scent Of A Mule included Roundabout teases and a slow spacey jam instead of the usual Mule Duel. After this show the band and crew traveled 223 miles overnight to New York City.
