Show Notes

This was Phish’s first performance at Rochester War Memorial – a hockey arena opened in 1955 with a capacity of 14,000. Tickets were all general admission, cost $25.00 and the show was sold out. This was the 1st Roses Are Free (Ween cover) played by Phish. Big Black Furry Creatures From Mars was played for the first time in more than a year (since 8/6/96) and included teases of Electric Funeral (Black Sabbath cover). The jam out of Ghost included vocalizations and testimony from Fish. The Down With Disease reprise out of Ghost was the instrumental refrain only with no vocals and without the usual ending. Notices were posted on the entry doors announcing that the band (and Todd Phillips’ film crew) were filming the show for what would become Bittersweet Motel – the film and DVD included Roses Are Free, Down With Disease, and Waste. After this show the band and crew traveled 230 miles overnight to Albany, New York.
