Show Notes

This was Phish’s second show at Paradiso and the first night of a 2-night stand. Tickets cost ƒ 30,00 and the show was sold out. The Dog Log soundcheck was a slow funk with “the crew doesn’t get to eat” alternative lyrics. Referring to an adventure from the previous night off in Amsterdam, Ghost kicked off two nights of “Worm” references, with Fish repeatedly exclaiming “I think you know where you are” and Trey responding with “You’re on the back of the worm!” Ya Mar, Saw It Again, and the huge jam out of Cities all included worm banter and the Cities jam also contained teases of When the Saints Go Marching In and Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Fish introduced Dirt as “Green Grass and High Tides Forever” (see also 11/2/89). The Fish Keyboard Jam to start set II began with Fish solo on Page’s Rhodes and developed into a full band jam as the rest of the band joined in and Fish moved to his drums. Bathtub Gin included teases of Little Drummer Boy and a Simpson’s Theme tease by Mike, who also teased Frankenstein during Loving Cup. This show was released in June 2015 (along with 2/17/97 and 7/2/97) as part of the Amsterdam box set.
