This was Phish’s first performance at Desert Sky Pavilion – a modern amphitheater opened in 1990 with a capacity of 20,200. Tickets cost $25.00. The soundcheck’s Blues Jam was played over the Samson Variation rhythm. During Theme From The Bottom, Mike and Trey teased the bass break from All Right Now (Free cover) and Trey teased Close To The Edge. This Gumbo was the first to feature a full-blown Gumbo jam. Fish sang some of the intro to Run Like An Antelope. Mike teased Dave’s Energy Guide during this standout Twist. After this show the band and crew traveled 432 miles overnight to Ventura, California.
