Ventura County Fairgrounds
Ventura, CA, US

Set List

Show Notes

This was Phish’s first performance at Ventura County Fairgrounds – a historic fairground in Seaside Park where the Ventura County Fair has taken place since 1914. The Phish show was not during the fair – the venue was a general admission dirt racetrack between the Pacific Coast Highway and Surfers Point Park; with palm trees and mountains behind the stage and a view of the Pacific Ocean from the bleachers with a capacity for this show of about 15,000. Tickets cost $25.00 and the show was sold out. Yours Is No Disgrace (Yes cover) was teased in the tuneup before NICU. Wolfman’s Brother included a Fire (Ohio Players cover) tease and a Take Me to the River jam. This was the only David Bowie > Cities > David Bowie combination to-date. The David Bowie intro included The Simpsons secret language (Matt Groening, creator of The Simpsons was in attendance), Fish on vacuum, and a Mike tease of When Johnny Comes Marching Home. This show was released in 2013 as part of the Ventura box set (along with 7/20/98 and parts of 3/21/93). After this show the band and crew traveled 352 miles overnight to Mountain View, California (technically the band went 380 miles to San Francisco).
