This was Phish’s second performance at Hartford Civic Center. Tickets cost $25.00 and the show was sold out. The Missed Load-In Blues soundcheck was an improvised blues song for a crew member who missed the bus that day. The second Beauty Of My Dreams soundcheck was a Makisupa-esque reggae version. Silent In The Morning had alternate lyrics “bask in morning sickness.” This mostly non-stop set II kicked off with a remarkable Character Zero > 2001 combination. Character Zero, 2001 and Ya Mar were all unfinished and 2001 included teases of Super Bad before dropping into Cities. Poor Heart started as Rocky Top but, when Mike sang the Poor Heart lyrics, the band instantly adjusted. Cavern included some of the original lyrics “I turned the blade back on the bitch and dropped her in the dung” and some Trey megaphone during the ending. The post-show house music was Theme from The Godfather. After this show the band and crew traveled 63 miles overnight to Worcester, Massachusetts to celebrate Thanksgiving.
