Show Notes

This was night one of a 2-night (or possibly a 3-night) stand at Nectar’s – Phish’s first shows there in 1988. This show featured the 1st known performance of Moose The Mooche (Charlie Parker cover) – often mislabeled “Jordy’s Board” or a funny variation “Jerry’s Beard”. It also yielded the 1st known performance of Fly Famous Mockingbird, which was played without Colonel Forbin’s Ascent. Some sources show Flat Fee was played before Fee, which is not true of the archives copies so Flat Fee is not listed here. Conversely, some circulating copies do not include Moose The Mooche, which is on tapes in the archives so it is listed here. Del Martin recorded this show as part of his work for Phish (and it’s possible his tapes are more complete) but the archives’ source is a copy from Garrett Mead.
