This was a 1-set show opening for Canned Heat. Phish played at 1:30pm. The show was billed as UMass (Amherst) Southwest Concert '89 and reportedly took place at the Southwest Parking Lot. Other bands likely played but the rest of the lineup is unknown. Around this time is when the band visited Archer Studios to record the basic tracks for Bathtub Gin and Split Open And Melt using the prize money they won at the Rock Rumble.
