Show Notes

This was Phish’s ”2nd Annual New Year’s Eve Extravaganza!!” – an all ages show that ran from 8pm-2am. As with the previous year, the band requested “creative formal attire”. Tickets cost $15.00 and Chucklehead opened. Before I Didn’t Know, Trey introduced Fish as “her highness, Henrietta!” Weekapaug Groove included an Auld Lang Syne tease. Subsequently, between Weekapaug Groove and Buried Alive, Trey announced that only about 45 seconds remained until the new year “so find your date.” The band did the New Year’s Eve countdown to 1991 together and continued to fool around onstage (toasting the crowd and the like) while a recording of Auld Lang Syne was played. They picked up instruments to end set I with Buried Alive > Possum. At the end of Possum, Trey thanked the audience and reminded them “please don’t smoke in the building – we’ll be right back for another set so don’t go away.” Venue management illuminated the house lights before the band could formulate an encore, so there was none. This was the last show until February 1991.
