Show Notes
This was Phish’s third show at the CCCC. Tickets cost $20.00 and the show was sold out. Dog Log from the soundcheck was the slow, so-called “pop” version. My Friend My Friend opener ended without the usual “Myfe” – and instead dropped directly into Ha Ha Ha. Before Prince Caspian, Trey mentioned that Portland was supposed to be the site of Elvis’ last show (on August 17, 1977) so this song was for his kid, “the prince.” Reba ended without whistling. This was the 1st Dog Log performed in public in more than 2 years (since 8/2/93). The pair of Dog Logs were part of what Trey called the “Dog Log album” and Trey instructed the audience to remain silent, boo or cheer on-demand per his signal (see 12/31/92). According to Trey, Tube was played to thank the audience for helping out with the Dog Log album. David Bowie began with an exceptionally long hi-hat introduction. Suspicious Minds was a second acknowledgment of Elvis’ Portland legacy. Warren Haynes sat in on guitar for Funky Bitch and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. After this show the band and crew traveled overnight to Providence, Rhode Island.
