Show Notes

This was Phish’s 1st performance at the Municipal Auditorium Arena – a historic Art Deco basketball arena opened in 1935 with a concert capacity of approximately 9,736. Tickets cost $20.00. The Fall 1995 Doniac Schvice called this venue Municipal Theatre. The Banana Boat Song (aka Day-O) and Tears Of A Clown (Smokey Robinson cover) from the soundcheck were the first known played by Phish – the latter was played in a reggae/ska style. Cavern was teased during Punch You In The Eye, foreshadowing the set closer. Weekapaug Groove was unfinished with a segue to Lawn Boy and included teases of Dreaming and Keyboard Army. Possum included All Fall Down secret language. After this show the band and crew traveled 322 miles overnight to Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Late Fall 1995 Doniac Schvice, mailed around this time, gave a game history of thi first chess game and showed the game board through New Orleans in a one-time “Phish Sports Minute – Band vs. Audience” that explained “The Game began on September 30 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, CA with each side making three opening moves. The game has continued one move per side per show. The band makes their move at the beginning of the first set, giving the audience the entire first set to analyze and strategize. Audience members place their votes at the Greenpeace table during intermission, and a representative from the audience emerges to climb the ladder during the second set and place the audience move.” The match continued in Kansas City and throughout Holiday Tour.
