This was Phish’s second show at The Joel – which had a listed capacity for this show of 14,437. Tickets cost $20.00. Dog Log was played twice during soundcheck – the second was performed A cappella. Trey sang the verses of Fee through his megaphone. My Friend My Friend ended without the usual “Myfe” – and instead segued into Dog Faced Boy. My Long Journey Home and I’m Blue I’m Lonesome were performed acoustic with Trey on acoustic guitar, Mike on banjo, Page on upright bass and Fish on mandolin. Simple contained teases of Maze, David Bowie, Possum and A Day In The Life. This show featured the 1st Take Me To The River (Al Green cover via: the Talking Heads) albeit incomplete…and the only Bowie > Take Me To The River > Bowie combination played to-date. After this show the band and crew traveled 339 miles overnight to Landover, Maryland.
