This was Phish’s 1st show on the main campus of Penn State University in University Park aka College Park, Pennsylvania. The venue, known as Rec Hall, was a historic multi-purpose gym opened in 1929 with a capacity of 5,295. The show was promoted by the Penn State University Concert Committee and tickets cost $17.50. The opener, Maze, included some testimony from Fish (“no way”) as well as some new digital delay effects from Trey. I Didn’t Know featured Mimi Fishman on cymbals. Trey introduced Fish’s mom as “Mimi Fizeek”. Trey played The Horse on acoustic guitar. Page did some scatting during Lawn Boy. It’s Ice developed into the 1st known performance of Digital Delay Loop Jam. Suzy Greenberg featured a tease of Owner of a Lonely Heart. Mimi Fishman returned to the stage during Big Black Furry Creature From Mars to count off the “1, 2, 3, 4” back into the song.
