This was Phish’s 1st show in Birmingham and their only gig at this venue – a brand new (in 1994) nightclub/concert hall with a capacity of about 1,000. Fee was played over the P.A. via: a sequencer tape as a unique introduction to the only The Great Gig In The Sky opener. Oteil Burbridge and Stacy Starkweather both joined the band on separate bass guitars – Stacy’s was an electric upright (along with Mike) for a three-man Bass Jam out of Mike’s Song. This was the 1st Bass Jam played and the band members seized the opportunity to switch instruments with Trey taking over drums and Fish organ while Page reportedly watched while enjoying a cold beer. Trey teased Stairway To Heaven (Led Zeppelin cover) during the Cavern Encore.
