This show was Phish’s 2nd show at this auditorium with a capacity of about 3000 where the Charlotte Hornets NBA team practiced at the time. Tickets cost $16.50. The soundcheck setlist may be incomplete. Before starting set I, Trey commented (presumably about the lighting) “We get to see you tonight for once.” Bathtub Gin found its way into an incomplete abeit the 1st (and only other) Jump Monk since 3/12/88. The band teased Tequila before Demand and during David Bowie. Trey’s narration during Fly Famous Mockingbird was about us all consisting of a bunch of genetic molecules bouncing back and forth but we miraculously don’t “just ooze into one giant puddle of Muck.” He explained that Paul and Chris had left the soundboard and were using big brooms to sweep the Muck of human life force into a giant sphere/puddle. The puddle of Muck was poured into space as Page teased 2001 until the narration transported the Muck from space to the green field of Gamehendge. Sweet Adeline was performed A capella without microphones.
