Show Notes

This show was part of the first day of the second annual “Laguna Seca Daze” – a 2-day, multiple-act festival promoted by Bill Graham Presents featuring Phish, Sausage, Gin Blossoms and Freddy Jones Band. Tickets cost $30.00 per day. Unlike 1993, this year Phish got to play a full, 2-set show each day. Set I started with an Introduction by BGP’s Jerry Pompili who said something like “from the evergreens of Vermont, enjoy the warm sounds of Phish.” Tweezer included a Popeye Theme tease from Trey. Reba ended without whistling. Trey sang the verses of Fee through his megaphone. You Enjoy Myself included a Gimme Some Lovin’ tease from Page (see 5/9/89) and a Dueling Banjos (Arthur “Guitar Boogie” Smith cover) tease. Instead of the usual vocal jam, You Enjoy Myself ended with the 2nd ever Bass Jam featuring Les Claypool joining Mike on bass and Fish on vacuum.. The encore, Poor Heart, featured more Dueling Banjos teases.
