Show Notes

This was Phish’s 1st and only performance at the Arlington Theater – a Mission Revival and Spanish Colonial movie and performance theater built in 1931 with a capacity of about 2,007. Tickets cost $16.50. This show took place on Page’s 31st birthday. Ginseng Sullivan and Dog Faced Boy were performed acoustic without amplification. Ginseng Sullivan featured Trey on acoustic guitar, Mike on upright bass, Page on Melodica and Fish on Madonna washboard. Maze also included Happy Birthday teases for Page. During Page’s piano solo in Squirming Coil, Trey brought out him out a birthday cake and lead the audience in a round of “Happy Birthday.” Tweezer developed into the 1st, albeit incomplete, Earache My Eye (Cheech and Chong cover) played. After this show the band and crew traveled 850 miles to Eugene for a day off.
