This was Phish’s second show at Assembly Hall. Tickets cost $18 for students and $20.00 for non-students and the show was sold out. The first Dog Log soundcheck was played over the Funk Jam and the second Dog Log soundcheck was played over Funky Bitch. Axilla was the first played in more than 2 years (since 10/16/94) and was reworked to add the Axilla (Part II) ending without the “don’t shine that thing in my face” lyrics from ‘Hoist’. All Things Reconsidered was played for the first time in more than a year (since 7/1/95) Trey had some gear problems during Axilla and Simple, leading to some amp-kicking and the inspired Loving Cup that followed. Trey introduced the Star-Spangled Banner (inside Mike’s Groove for the only time to date) announcing that the band would sing it that Tuesday at the Timberwolves vs. Trail Blazers game in Minnesota. Mike had some gear problems at the top of Weekapaug Groove. After this show the band and crew traveled 370 miles overnight to Detroit, Michigan.
