Phish - 1996

Alpine Valley Music Amphitheatre
East Troy, WI, US

Set List

Show Notes

This was Phish’s first show at Alpine Valley – a wooden-roof covered outdoor amphitheater opened in 1977 with a capacity of 37,000, making it one of the largest outdoor amphitheaters in the United States. Tickets cost $25.75 and the show was sold out. Trey used his microphone stand as a slide during My Friend My Friend. During AC/DC Bag, a local pilot flew over the crowd in an ultra-light glider. Trey sang the verses of Fee through his megaphone. Reba ended without whistling. Page teased Sunshine Of Your Love and during the Scent Of A Mule duel and Mike sang some of Hatzi Kaddish. Whipping Post was sung by Fish and was played for the first time in more than three years (since 4/20/93). After the outro Hold Your Head Up, Trey introduced Fish with a new nickname, “Let’s hear it for the man on my t-shirt. Ladies and gentlemen, The Dork.” There were fireworks above the venue following the encore. Following this show the band and crew traveled 276 miles overnight to Indianapolis, Indiana for a day off.
