This was Phish’s seventh show at Red Rocks and the second show of a 4-night stand. Tickets cost $25.00 and the show was sold out. Before set II, Mike teased Barracuda. 2001 began with some unusual Fish vocalization. A rainbow before the show led to another Page performance of Somewhere Over The Rainbow solo on Theremin. Set II featured the 1st acoustic mini-set: Waste, Talk, Train Song and Strange Design featured Page on an upright piano, Trey on acoustic guitar, Mike on acoustic bass and Fish on a stripped down drum kit. This was the 1st Talk played. Fans handed out flyers in the lots urging crowd participation exercises to combat a perceived lack of connection in larger venues. This led some to sit during the Divided Sky pause but, unlike the “Hood” response chant on 8/6/96, this suggestion never caught on.
