Show Notes
This was the first show of a 2-night stand and Phish’s first performance at The FleetCenter (aka New Boston Garden) – a basketball and hockey arena opened in September 1995 with a capacity of 18,685. Construction had begun on the New Garden in April 1993, pre-dating Phish’s 1st headline show at the Old Garden. Tickets cost $25.00 and the show was sold out. The Amazing Grace soundcheck was performed by the Boston Community Choir only with no accompaniment. The Julius soundcheck was the full band plus the choir. Reba ended without whistling. Trey played Talk on acoustic guitar. The P.A. cut out during Funky Bitch – the band played on for a few minutes while the crew tried to fix the problem. This silent Funky Bitch jam included an air drum solo by Fish, Townsend-style windmills by Trey among other shenanigans. Scent Of A Mule featured a Page/Mike duel and a guest appearance from comedian Steven Wright, who came onstage and rang an antique desk bell.
