Show Notes

This was Phish’s second show at The FleetCenter (aka New Boston Garden) and the second show of a 2-night stand. Tckets cost $30.00 and the show was sold out. This night was especially cold with high temperatures around 20deg. F and lows in the single digits without windchill. Axilla contained the Axilla (Part II) ending without the ‘Hoist’ lyrics. Punch You In The Eye contained Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough (Michael Jackson cover) teases from Page. During the setbreak between sets II and III a remote controlled hot air balloon floated around the arena (see 11/29/96), foreshadowing the imminent balloon-drop-to-end-all-balloon-drops. At the end of 2001 as the band went into Auld Lang Syne, nearly 70,000 balloons fell from the rafters – a quantity inspired by the recent Democratic National Convention. Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen cover) was the 1st played by Phish and, along with Julius, and Amazing Grace, featured the Boston Community Choir. The entire show was broadcast live on WBCN 104.1 FM. Between this show and the next, Mike got together with Gordon Stone, Scott Murawski and Greg DeGuglielmo to perform as The Drop Caps at the 20th Ann Arbor Folk Festival. Pork Tornado was joined by the Dude of Life for a Club Toast show in Burlington. Phish started rehearsals for Europe and recorded interviews for another episode of Rockline and for The Phish Book before heading overseas to start a 14-show tour.
